Pittsburg ArtWalk Board Application

It takes a village to organize a great event! 


For those wishing to fill a board member seat, please fill out the following application.

Interested in event planning, but not the commitment? Committee members do not need to fill out an application. Contact us for meeting details at pittsburgartwalk@gmail.com.

Roles and responsibilities

OVERALL

All Committee Members must have a vested interest in the ArtWalk and its mission. Duties include attending board meetings and events. Committee members are not eligible to vote on matters pertaining to the ArtWalk.


  • Recruit, promote, support, and encourage artists, organizations, and vendors from the surrounding area.  
  • Support current and upcoming artists, organizations, and vendors regarding City and ArtWalk boundary regulations and processes.  
  • Assist in resolving conflicts within the downtown community and/or businesses for the ArtWalk or other ArtWalk related events.   
  • Make recommendations to the ArtWalk Board of Directors regarding issues related to development and activities with the ArtWalk boundaries.  
  • Be informed of the ArtWalk’s mission, services, policies, and programs.  
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled board meetings and as many functions, such as special events, as possible.  
  • Actively participate on one or more board committees or task forces.  
  • Prepare for board and committee meetings by reviewing the meeting agenda and supporting materials.  
  • Share resources, contacts, expertise and talents to further the mission of the ArtWalk.  
  • Inform others about the organization.  
  • Advocate for the organization.  
  • Suggest possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization. 

President

The leader of the ArtWalk’s board of directors. The President facilitates board meetings, leads goal and objective-setting for the board, heads up the search for new board members, and leads external communication with artists, community members, and city officials.

Vice-President

Leads the board alongside the Board President, carries out special projects as requested by the President, and performs the duties of the President in the President’s absence. 

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall assist in the preparation of the budget, help develop fundraising plans, and make financial information available to board members and the public. 

Secretary

The administrative lead of the board. The Secretary ensures the safety and accuracy of board records, takes meeting minutes, and assumes the responsibility of the chair in the absence of the President and Vice President.

Founding Board Member

The Founding Board Member must be an individual that has been involved in the ArtWalk since its inception. Duties include serving as an advisor to the committee, helping to select committee members that share the founder’s vision, and to ensure that the committee adheres to its mission.

Artist Board Member

The Artist board member must be an established artist in Pittsburg or the immediate surrounding area. Duties include recruitment and support of fellow artist participants for the ArtWalk or other ArtWalk related events.

Legal/Financial Advisor Board Member

The Legal/Financial Advisor Board member must possess legal or accounting experience and a passion for art and community. Duties include maintaining our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization status and filing year-end taxes.

Downtown Business Owner/Employee Board Member

The Downtown Business Owner/Employee Board Member must either own or work in a business located in the downtown Pittsburg area. Duties include assisting in resolving conflicts within the downtown community and/or businesses for the ArtWalk or other ArtWalk related events.

Musician Board Member

The Musician Board Member must have a vested interest in local musicians. Duties include recruitment, organization, scheduling, and setup of area musicians during the ArtWalk or for other ArtWalk related events.

Performing Arts Board Member

The Performing Arts Board Member must have a vested interest in local performing arts programs. Duties include recruitment, organization, scheduling, and setup of local performing arts groups during the ArtWalk or for other ArtWalk related events.

At Large Board Member

The At Large Board Member must have a vested interest in the ArtWalk and its mission. Duties include attending board meetings and events. The At Large Board member is eligible to vote on matters pertaining to the ArtWalk.
